Biovet wants to promote the diagnosis of respiratory infections in cattle.

Based on the feedback from the field, it appears that attempts to diagnose these conditions often produce disappointing results.

We believe that this can be due to several factors, including:

• Samples taken too late, too few animals examined, samples from anterior rather than posterior airways
• Tests lacking sensitivity
• Lack of testing of some microorganisms

Biovet will provide you with a combination of qPCR (real-time PCR) tests to detect a wide range of pathogens including:

  1. BoHV-1 (IBR)
  2. BRSV
  3. PI3
  4. BoCV (Coronavirus)
  5. BVDV
  6. Influenza Virus D (IVD)
  7. Mycoplasma bovis
  8. Mannheimia haemolytica

The samples to be submitted are transtracheal aspirations or nasopharyngeal swabs, not simply nasal swabs.

Results will be quoted semi-quantitatively using cycle threshold (Ct) values giving an idea of the respective loads of different pathogens.

Samples with negative results will be retained for possible further testing (e.g. by Next Generation Sequencing)

The panel of 8 qPCR tests will be exceptionally offered at a low price until June 1, 2017.
