René Lallier, DVM, MBA President
Mr. Lallier is a veterinary entrepreneur with more than twenty years of experience in various animal health care sectors. He holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Université de Montréal, as well as an MBA from HEC Montréal. M. Lallier has practised as a veterinarian, and held management positions at veterinary pharmaceutical firms. He was involved in the creation of Biovet Inc. from 1994 to 2002 as their Managing Director, and acquired the company in 2005.

Jules Lallier started at Biovet in the summer of 2005 in various positions (customer service, receiving samples, etc.). After graduating from HEC with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, he left St-Hyacinthe in 2011 to study at the University of Ottawa. After a few years working in the sports field in Montreal, he returned to Biovet in March 2015 to take a sales representative position in the companion animal and bovine sector. In 2019, Mr. Lallier was promoted to Sales Manager and in November 2021, he became General Manager.

Ms. Amélie Francoeur graduated from Laval University in Microbiology, medical and pharmaceutical concentration in 2006. She has a certificate in food science and technology - food safety from Laval University, as well as a graduate degree specialized in business administration.

Clinical pathologists

Dr. Pierre Hébert, DVM, IPSAV, DACVP Clinical pathologist
Dr. Pierre Hébert graduated from the Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. He then completed an internship in applied veterinary science in 1994, and a residency in clinical pathology in 1997. Dr. Hébert obtained became certified with the American College of Veterinary Pathologists, specializing in clinical pathology. In 1998 he moved to the American West Coast to practise, returning to St-Hyacinthe in 2003 to begin work with the Biovet diagnostics laboratory. Dr. Hébert became the Laboratory Director at Biovet in February 2005, where he coordinates the various activities and supervises scientific personnel. He is the author and co-author of a dozen scientific articles.

Dr. Sandra Beaudoin, DVM, DACVP Clinical pathologist
Dr. Beaudoin obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1999, where she then completed a three-year residency in clinical pathology. In 2002 Dr. Beaudoin obtained certification in clinical pathology from the American College of Veterinary Pathologists, following which she became a director and co-owner of Laboratoire DVQ. Dr. Beaudoin joined the ranks of the Biovet team in the summer of 2003, where she interprets test results and advises veterinarians.

Dr. Philippe Labelle, DVM, DACVP Anatomic pathologist
Phil earned his veterinary degree from The University of Montreal. He then completed a residency in anatomic pathology at the University of California, Davis training at both the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and the Comparative Pathology Laboratory.
Philippe est membre de l’ACVP, VCS-OPWG et COPS. Il a un intérêt particulier pour la pathologie oncologique, l’immunohistochimie et la pathologie oculaire. He is Chair of Ocular Pathology and a member of Antech’s Oncology-Pathology Advisory Panel. He has published over 35 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and is the author of the chapter « The Eye » in the reference text « Pathologic Basis of Veterinary Disease ». He is an Editorial Board Member for the journal Veterinary Ophthalmology and also serves as Lead Pathology Faculty for the William Magrane Basic Science Course in Veterinary Comparative Ophthalmology. In addition, Philippe is Associate Professor at the Western University of Health Sciences.
Phil joined Antech in 2004 and is based in Ottawa, ON.

Maryse Casaubon graduated from Cégep de St-Hyacinthe where she obtained a Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in dietetics in May 2000. Before joining the Biovet team, she has held positions in quality control and quality assurance in the agri-food industry.

Before joining Biovet, Isabelle Caya worked for the GREMIP (Groupe de recherche sur les maladies infectieuses du porc (research group on infectious pork diseases)) as a research assistant and laboratory supervisor. Ms. Caya holds a bachelor’s degree in biology with a microbiology major from the Université de Sherbrooke. In addition to upgrading courses, Isabelle Caya completed an internship at the Biotechnology Research Institute. At Biovet, Isabelle takes part in the development of new products and services.

Christian Savard holds a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Laval University on the development of new adjuvants for inactivated vaccines. He first obtained a Bachelor degree in bio-agronomy at Laval University, prior to complete a Masters in Animal Science, on the development of assisted methods of reproduction in pigs. Before joining the Research and Development team of Biovet, Mr. Savard was conducting postdoctoral work in animal virology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (CRIPA).

Martine holds a diploma of college studies in Chemistry-Biology from the Collège Ahuntsic à Montreal. She has worked for a University research laboratory concerned with issues of ecotoxicology and then for the department of Quality Control in a company operating in the field of immunology.Working with Biovet since 1996, she was actively involved in structuring the diagnostic kits production unit as head technician. At this time, she is developing and evaluating new products brought to market with high quality goals.

Caroline Bégin Head Technician, Quality Control
Caroline Bégin completed her studies at the Cégep de St-Hyacinthe, where she graduated with distinction as a medical laboratory technician. Caroline also received a certificate of excellence as well as a first-level certificate from the Canadian Society of Laboratory Technologists. Since then, Ms. Bégin has progressed in her field, holding various laboratory technician positions at a number of institutions, such as the Hôpital Sainte-Croix in Drummondville, the Hôpital Honoré-Mercier in Saint-Hyacinthe, and the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire at the Université de Montréal. At Biovet, Caroline ensures that the products and services offered meet our high level of quality control.

Ms. Amélie Francoeur graduated from Laval University in Microbiology, medical and pharmaceutical concentration in 2006. She also completed the Microprogram in Food Science and Technology - Food Safety from Laval University. She was hired as director of laboratory and quality assurance, by a company of injectable autogenous veterinary products. At Biovet, Ms. Francoeur is in charge of the veterinary and accredited food analyzes as well as of drinking water analysis wich are accredited by the MSDEFCC.

Mélanie St-Hilaire obtained her diploma in medical laboratory techniques from the Cégep de St-Hyacinthe in May 1996. After receiving her diploma, Mélanie worked in quality control and R&D in an adhesives manufacturing firm. She joined the Biovet team in June of 1999, working in the biochemistry-haematology department. Since October 2000 Mélanie has held the position of Head Technician for the biochemistry-haematology department.

Annie St-Germain has been at Biovet since graduating as a medical laboratory technician in May 1996. Certified in the detection of many illnesses that can affect cattle, Annie has proven her worth, and is now Head Technician in Serology at Biovet.

Daniel Essiambre, B. Sc., MBA, Chemist Production Manager
Daniel Essiambre received his BA in Biochemistry from Laval University in 2002. Then, he obtained his Masters of Business Administration (MBA), with a Pharmaceutical Management profile, from Laval University in 2004. Prior to joining the team Biovet in October 2008, Mr. Essiambre worked as a project manager in a company of nutritional supplements for animals and as a production and packaging supervisor in a pharmaceutical company. At Biovet, Daniel Essiambre is the production manager of the diagnostic kits.

Passionate about sales, Sonia Dumais has worked in the field for over 15 years, developing expertise first in dentistry and briefly in mass sales of consumer goods. The opportunity offered by Biovet is the logical continuation of this path, reconciling her undeniable love for animals and the pursuit of a field with infinite possibilities.

Dr. André Broes graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Liège (Belgium) in 1978. He obtained a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Montréal’s Faculty of Medicine in 1989. Dr Broes worked during ten years as a diagnostician in a Provincial Animal Health Laboratory in Belgium. In 1993 he moved to Québec and he worked for the Québec Swine Development Center (1993-2003) and then for Génétiporc (2003-2006). Dr Broes joined Biovet in the summer of 2006 as director of the R&D Department and Technical Services Manager (swine, cattle).
